okay, i'm turning 14 this september, and i think my body is showing quite a lot of signs of a coming period. here are my stats:

underarm hair: 1- 1 1/2 years

breasts: 30aa (small, i know, i'm sad too) and for about 3 years

pubic hair: 1-1 1/2 years

growth spurt: i grew 6-7 inches in one year, now i'm 4' 8" (i come from a short family)

discharge: 3-4 years, possibly more, i dont remember

other signs: cramps, occasional bloating, mood swings, widened hips, i've gone from a size 7 to 10 pants in kids' sizes (i know, i know, i'm really petite), and all of the puberty signs. i would like an estimate of when i am going to get my period. i also have a normal BMI for my age, and i weigh about 77-79 pounds.

no offense, but what i dont need is a lot of people telling me that i should enjoy my periodless time. i know that already, but i still really want to know when i should be expecting my period. thanks for the help!

I think they say about 1 year after pubic hair--just be patient--if it doesn't come soon--book a check up with a female Dr and talk to her about it.

They say that petite girls get their periods later in life - by 16 U should have them, and judging by what U R saying, its going to be any day now. Eat a lot of eggs and meat, that is supposed to help too. Good Luck

Honey, first of all you do not have to pour of all this info out, next time you can ask the question, give us a couple reasons why, ok?

Anyway, at your age you know that the inevitable will be coming sometime within the next year or so. There is no real, sure shot sign of when it will be there. Over time you will get to know your body and signs of when it is coming... but for now just make sure to be ready for it... I mean, have the necessary supplies.

And, SORRY TO ALL YOU BOYS IF YOU SEE THIS, do not use tampons the first month, maybe not even the second... pads suck I know, but you got to give your body time to get adjusted.

It sounds like you have all the right things happening to your body so I guess it won't be long until you get a period. I'm afraid there's no way to say exactly when you will start though.

Menstruation is the last thing to occur in your development - you'll get hair, then breasts, then your period. Since we can't be certain that your breasts are developed yet from what you have said, I'd give it a little longer. If you turn 17 and haven't had a period, then you need to see a doctor. Otherwise, you will be perfectly healthy without one.

If you are concerned about the signs you seem to be having but that you are not bleeding, then it is certainly reasonable to speak to a pediatrician or gynecologist about it. Young girls can actually have periods without bleeding due to an imperforate hymen. This is unlikely if you are having significant discharge, however.

when did your mom start her periods? or your father's sisters? usually a girl will start sometime around the same year that her mother did. not always, but it is a measure of sorts. you do definitely show signs of starting. only god and mother nature will know for sure. when you say that you've had a discharge for the past 3-4 years, is it discolored? are you sure that it's not a period? when i first started, i didn't realize that the discharge was actually my first few periods. it became more evident later on when they intensified and the flow became heavier. as for me...im going thru the opposite end of spectrum. im over 40 and have begun not having periods. after 30 years of having them, im soooooo relieved to stop them! :-) enjoy your womanhood girlfriend!!! periods aren't fun, but being a woman is terrific! *smiles*

Remember a girl cud get her her period from 9-16 a girl usually gets her period at the age her mother had it. The doctor gave a shot next to my nipples wen i was 9 and said that i will menustrate at the age 12 but i got my period at the age 10.. u cud ask ur doctor for this shot its not always rite but try. Dont worry u will get it just dont think bout it alot!! Trust me u will get it!!!!

but ur body will start when it is ready so dont freak

but before i started i was always wondering when it would happen and right after i stoped thinking about it it started so...

i started when i was 12 but i was not as developed as others my age and started before them so its kinf of unpredictable!!!!
