Hi I am looking to find ideas on how to make my own chemical free cleaning products that smell good.

I am a mom of 6 and, I want to keep chemicals away from the kids, from them breathing it so, I need to know does anyone know how to make my own chemical free cleaning supplies and, even shapoo ect.Or where I can buy chemical free products that are safe for my family.Any help would be awesome.I want to keep the kids safe and, non toxic cleaners would be a good way I think.

Antibacterial %26amp; anti- fungal spray: 16 oz spray bottle filled nearly to the top with water. 20-30 drops tea tree oil (pharmacy) 3Tbsp castille soap or other mild liquid soap. Shake to mix. This is the equivelant of the Lysol Anti-bacterial spray only it doesn't cost nearly as much.

Window Cleaner: 1 part vinegar with 4 parts water mixed into spray bottle. Spray onto windows and wipe clean with newspaper. The newsprint makes the shine.

Calcium, lyme and hardwater deposit cleaner: Heat 1 cup vinegar (do not boil) and soak some paper towels in it. Take the paper towels and bunch them over the spot and let sit 15+ minutes and come back to wipe away.

Shower spray: 2 tsp tea tree oil in 12oz water. Mix and spray onto shower doors, curtains, tiles, etc. to prevent mildew and mold growth.

Carpet Stain Cleaner: Mix equal parts hot vinegar and water and spray directly onto spot. Let sit several minutes then clean with warm soapy brush or sponge. Soak up excess with a towel.

Wood Floor Mop water: Equal parts vinegar and water with 15 drops peppermint oil or other favorite scent. I mix into a sprayer and spray the floor for damp mopping.

Drain Cleaner: 1cup baking soda, 1cup salt, 1/4 cup cream of tarter. Mix well and pour 1/4 cup down empty drain. Follow with 2 cups boiling water. Let sit 5 minutes and flush with tap water.

Laundry detergeant: 1 cup ivory soap,1/2 cup washing soda (not baking soda), 1/2 cup borax. Mix well. 1 tbsp for light loads and 2tbsp for large heavy loads.

In the Oven: If you get a gooey mess in your oven, before it dries or cools, cover in table salt. It will pick right up once cooled. For heavy cleaning use: 3/4 cup baking soda, 1/4cup salt,and 1/4 cup water to make a thick past. Dampen bottom interior of oven with water. Spread over entire bottom of oven and let sit over night. Scrape up excess with spatula and wipe rest off with damp rag.

Shoe polish: 1tbsp olive oil with a few drops of lemon juice. Spread on with cotton cloth. Let sit a few minutes then buff off with clean cloth rag.

A good place to look would be your phone book. Any organic, whole food, natural food type of store should carry chemical free products or at least know where to look locally. Also, if you do not have any in your area, a search of the same will produce results. Many of these products can be purchased online.

here's an inexpensive and fragrance free solution that is perfect for your problem. - I know many other people that use it to eliminate odors just about everywhere. It is a natural fragrance free carbon product called FRIDGE IT odor absorbers. It is a little purple cube with an incredible activated carbon filter inside that is really, really, great and eliminates the odors and for a long time. It works so much better than baking soda all those sprays, and fragrances that just cover up smells and doesn't get rid of them. Also, alot of sprays have warning statements about being eye irritant. and gels and oils that say keep away from fabric, pets,etc. and just don't eliminate odors. Just place around problem areas.. No spills or chemicals or powder to worry about. Each only costs a couple of dollars. I use this product everywhere including car(smoke and pet smells), storage, closets, my fridge and also under sinks, near trash and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails - it's that good. I really recommend it. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like walmart and linens and things. I also think camping world sells it and Internet at customerservice@innofresh.com.

I use a cleaner called Thieves Household Cleaner. I love it. It works on just about anything and it doesn't have all those horrible chemicals. You can get this at www.moldrx4u.com (it also gets rid of mold that way you don't have to use bleach, which isn't the best of things to use anyhow) I use this product all the time. You can clean almost anything with lemon juice, baking soda, vinegar, tea tree oil, dish soap, household bleach and warm water.

If you have BBC America, you should watch How Clean is Your House? All they use is everyday products and rarely use anything harsh.

At the risk of sounding unsympathetic, any compound you mix is going to have chemicals, or you can't make a compound. I think you mean you want to mix a compound that has no HARMFUL chemicals?
